Fewest Moves

3x3x3 Rubik's Cube Fewest Moves Challenge (FMC)

World Record

In June of 2024 I achieved a world record of 16 moves in the fewest moves event. This result is tied with two other people, one person who got a 16 move result in 2019 which remained untied for five years, and the other person who got the same solution at the competition I got my 16 move result at. This video shows me explaining my solution in detail with the other person who got a 16 move result on the same scramble I did.

Statistics

One contribution I've made to the Fewest Moves solving community is a statistical analysis of different subsets of a common step when doing fewest moves. Using python I was able to simulate thousands of different puzzle states, solve them optimally, and organize them based on subset. This lets you see which subsets are worth pursuing in a solve and which ones aren't, and what you can expect to get with each subset. This resource is commonly utilized by many fewest moves solvers to learn how to filter out bad subsets.
